Louis Hempelmann worked in Los Alamos during the Second World War. Tina B. Woolley's Grandmother lived in his house in the Winters in Nambe, New Mexico. Eleanor Hempelmann, his wife, comissioned this piece in 1978 for their home in Up-State New York. She loved turquoise,greens and blue colors specifically outlined with strict dark lines.
